Flint condemns apartment buildings without water, evicts tenants

Flint officials are telling some residents of an apartment building complex to leave their homes because they don't have running water.

Residents of two Glen Acre buildings were told Tuesday they had to leave by Wednesday. Condemnation notices were posted on their doors saying the property is unfit for occupancy.

A city spokesman says tenants in two buildings that have water will be allowed to stay.

A property management company spokeswoman says the owners have a payment schedule for a water bill at the buildings with working water. She says there isn't a similar plan for the other buildings.

She says copper pipe thefts have led to large water spills and city charges of more than $150,000.
