Saturday, an orientation session for Flint City Council members focused on professionalism Saturday.

The orientation at Mott Community College is part of a series of workshops preparing council members to lead the city after the departure of Emergency Manager Darnell Earley.

The group focused on issues like time spent with constituents, professionalism and respect during city hall meetings.

Emergency Manager, Darnell Earley says he is pleased with the council members' new direction.

"We got to start now equipping the council in my opinion with the ability step in and provide the leadership necessary going forward," said Earley.

Flint City Councilman, Wantwaz Davis said, "the emergency manager is putting us in an area that we know we don't ever have to look back. We can sustain what he has put in place for us to move forward."

This is the first workshop council members have attended.
