Flint man being held in Shiawassee County on kidnapping charges

Shiawassee County Sheriff has arrested a Flint man on kidnapping charges.


Police have identified the suspected kidnapper as Donny Redmond of Flint. He has been charged with one count of kidnapping. He is currently being held at the Shiawassee County Jail under a $50,000 bond.


The Shiawassee County Sheriff department has taken a man into custody on kidnapping charges.

The Sheriff's office received a call at around 11 yesterday morning that a 29-year-old woman had been taken against her will by her ex-boyfriend and was being held somewhere in Flint.

The caller, the woman's mother, also said the man was armed with a gun and had threatened to shoot her daughter in the past, officials say.

The Sheriff's Detective Bureau then contacted the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives as well as the Flint Area Narcotics Group (FANG).

Police tell NBC25 that by 2:40 pm the suspect was located and arrested.

The victim, who is a resident of Owosso, received minor injuries, according to officials, but was otherwise unharmed according to the sheriff's office.

The suspect, who is a Flint resident age 28, was taken into custody and is currently being held in the Shiawassee County Jail for kidnapping.
