Flint Township homicide suspect may have committed suicide in business parking lot

Update, March 9, 2011, 11:00 p.m.

Police tell NBC25 they believe a son killed his father, and then himself. They found 47-year-old Joseph Rothley dead at his Flint Township home Wednesday morning. Police say when they found his son, who was a "person of interest", 23-year-old Thomas Rothley committed suicide in the Grand Blanc Township Walmart parking lot. Police tell us a murder suspect shot himself in a Grand Blanc Township business parking lot.

Around 10:18 Wednesday morning, 47 year old Joseph Michael Rothley was found dead in a home on Wickfield Drive in Flint Township. Police had a vehicle description of a black, 2004 Dodge Pickup truck.

Around 4:00 pm Wednesday, a local police officer saw a vehicle that fit the description in a parking lot in Grand Blanc Township. NBC25 heard scanner traffic of area cops surrounding the suspect outside the WalMart on Dort Highway. We're told that when the 23 year old suspect saw police, he shot himself in the head.
