Flood Waters Recede in Midland

I was a little surprised to see this, honestly.

The flood waters of the Tittabawassee River at the Tridge area of Midland have receded rapidly this week.

As proof, here are some pictures from our weather watcher in the Midland area -- Kenneth Roberts.

Although nearby MBS Airport received an additional 0.63" of rain last night and early this morning, it wasn't enough to exasperate the flood waters of the Tittabawasse River.

Evidently, last night's rain was just a "drop in the bucket" compared to the April 2013 total of 7.09".

This month's rain total breaks MBS's April monthly record rainfall of 6.83" set back in 1967, and we still have six days left in the month to get through!

Fortunately, what little rain we do have in the extended forecast looks light.

A weakening cold front sliding in from the west could drop another 0.1" or so on the area tomorrow.

Similar or lighter amounts could fall on Friday evening and again on Tuesday, with dry, warmer weather for the weekend.

So hang in there... Drier, more Spring-like days are coming soon!
