Former Michigan Secretary of State announces bid for US Senate

Terri Lynn Land has announced she is running for the US Senate.

Terri Lynn Land, Michigan's Secretary of State until 2010, has announced on her Facebook page that she is running for the US Senate.

Carl Levin, the current Senator, is retiring after his term ends in 2014.

Land, a Republican, was Secretary of State until 2010, when terms limits forced her to leave office.

From her post on Facebook Land says, "Beginning today, I am putting together a campaign strategy and a policy team. I will be filing the appropriate paper work by July 1 to become a Republican primary candidate. Now is our chance to win. I eagerly look forward to speaking with you face-to-face about ways to launch our country to prosperity while defending our liberty and freedoms."
