Former Miss Basketball from Saginaw making noise in the Big Ten

The University of Michigan in Ann Arbor is getting ready for the upcoming basketball season by holding its annual Media Day on Tuesday.

NBC25 checked in with Saginaw native Jenny Ryan who is gearing up for her third season playing for Michigan.

It seems like every game comes down to the last five minutes and being mentally and physically ready is the most important thing.

Jenny, a junior, says she TMs come a long way since her freshman year when it took her some time to adjust to the speed of the college game.

"Everything just moves faster. Whether it's picking up a play or picking up a drill. Everything moves a lot faster," said Jenny.

But in no time Jenny made the transition and made her mark.

Jenny Ryan brings a degree of toughness that you really can't explain. She makes the players around her better. Jenny is a winner," said Head Coach Kevin Borseth.

Jenny says she gets her competitive edge and discipline from her days playing at Nouvel Catholic High School in Saginaw where she was named Miss Basketball in 2009.

It's just the tradition at Nouvel. We pride ourselves at being competitive and working hard and being the best."

Jenny has started every game but one during her career at Michigan and she TMs also been named to the Big Ten All Academic Team.

I love the University of Michigan. It's the best in terms of academics and when you combine that with playing in the Big Ten and going to football games and the social life. You couldn't ask to be in a better place."

Jenny says while she loves playing for Michigan, she will always cherish her days playing for Nouvel.

It TMs much more intimate. You get to see the classmates that you represent. You TMre more in touch with the fans because they are your friends parents.
