Frankenmuth Bavarian Festival kicks off summer

Summer tradition is continuing in Frankenmuth. This years Bavarian Festival is marking the beginning of summer for many.

The Bavarian Festival is coming to a close with one final night in Frankenmuth. Thousands of residents and tourists have been in full swing since Friday morning enjoying dancing and each other in the Bavarian Inn Courtyard. This afternoon the festivals parade rolled through downtown highlighting the historic weekend.

Bill and Karen Zehnder grand marshaled the parade only four years after Dorothy Zehnder hosted in 2008. The Bavarian Festival's roots go back to 1959 and has keep the same general theme, bring your family out, shop and eat. Before coming down main street more than 100 participants including marching bands, floats and emergency responders came down West Genesee Street and finished just off East Jefferson.
