Wanieta Brown, June's Flowers

Just in time for Valentine's Day, a local florist is giving away bouquets of flowers to the sweethart of a soldier.

June's Floral Company will host Operation Cupid. On Sunday February 10, they will gift floral bouquets to a sweetheart of soldier by way of the Michigan Patriot Guard Riders. Operation Cupid was created for the sole purpose of sending flowers to a loved one on behalf of active military service men and women stationed over seas.

The idea of a solider being on the other side of the globe away from their loved one on Valentine's Day inspired local floral owner, Waneita Bovan to create Operation Cupid three years ago. Waneita, a long time resident of Mt Morris and owner of June's Floral Company The Wild Bird Feeder & Gifts, wanted to make a difference for members of Genesee County that have a deployed military member. "Each year the numbers change but we still have soldiers gone and loved ones at home" explained Bovan. She will include Blue Start moms this year at the request of a few The Patriot Guard Riders. "These men are wonderful and I will help in anyway I can. They go out on deliveries with buckets full of bouquets and come back with the most amazing testimonies".
