It is move in week for Saginaw Valley State University where freshman are trying to get settled in before classes start on Monday. Current SVSU students are volunteering to help the new class move in and get acquainted with the school.
"They need that help to their dorms, finding everything and help move stuff so we like to help out here a lot., said current student Vance Arrington."
Volunteers like Arrington helped nearly every student who arrived on the first move in day.
??They brought all the golf cars out and lifted everything for us. It was pretty easy, said freshman Tyler Hodges."
NBC25 met with some parents who are happy for their kids but a bit worried.
"It is kind of nice to have our eighteen year old is leaving home but we will probably be crying on the way home. It's like bringing her to a long summer camp, said Sharron and Eric Lecolas."
For the most part students and parents were holding up well, but the students were a little more excited to finally be on their own.
