Dozens of Flint residents with questions about President Obamaâ??s new health care law got some answers at a town hall meeting Wednesday night.
Genesee County Commissioner Brenda Clack led the meeting at Vernon Chapel AME Church to help people understand what the changes in the new law means for them before open enrollment begins in October.
For example, the cost of your insurance through the online exchange will depend on income and what kind of plan you buy.
â??We're reaching out to everyone because everyone will be covered. The uninsured, the underinsured, the infants, the Medicare individuals, everyone will be covered,â?? Clack said.
Most of the major provisions of the health care law take effect January 1, 2014, but those looking for individual health insurance can enroll in subsidized plans through state-based exchanges beginning in October.
The exchanges are expected to provide health coverage for 7 million people next year and 22 million people by 2016.
