It maybe the middle of summer but Genesee County could be one step closer to being better prepared if an ice storm hits the area.
On Monday, the Emergency Preparedness Committee presented a status report to commissioners.
The goal is to provide services more efficiently during severe weather like the ice storm we saw last winter.
Part of the plan is increased public outreach with a focus on the elderly population...making sure they know what to do incase of an emergency.
Another effort is creating cross disaster relief among agencies in hopes of cutting down response time.
The committee has taken input from various experts and area organizations including the Road Commission.
