The tallest building in Flint, the Genesee Towers, now has a date for its implosion.
The Uptown Reinvestment Corporation (URC) has announced that December 22 at 10 in the morning, the 19-story Genesee Towers will come down.
In a release the URC has said that the implosion plan will have the building collapse within its own boundaries.
The current plan for the property is to turn it into an exploration park, with outdoor science activities for children.
Siwek Construction is the demolition team hired to do the job. Dave Lurvey, who is managing the property for Siwek, said, ??The majority of the work has focused on wall coring and specific structure removal in line with the implosion plan. This work will continue for the next few weeks as well as activity on the perimeter of the site to protect adjacent buildings. In addition, we have addressed all environmental concerns that are relevant for this method of implosion.??
