GM unveils restored historic site of first factory
FLINT, Mich. - General Motors hosted the grand opening of a historic site in the company's history.
Durant-Dort Factory One is considered to be the company's birthplace and epicenter of the global auto industry.
The restored building was once home of the Flint Road Cart Company, established in 1886.
“We've put about 2.8 Billion dollars into Flint here since the downturn and we are just going to do things like Factory One and our new paint shop and our new engine facility and our new plants,” said Mark Reuss, GM executive vice president of Global Product Development.
Factory One includes event space and a modern archive where future generations can learn about the innovators and risk takers who reinvented personal transportation.
