Grandmother of Tanisha Colton says her granddaughter's body was found

The grandmother of Tanisha Colton says her granddaughter's body has been found.

Michigan State Police (MSP) are telling NBC25 that they found a body identified as Tanisha Colton in a ditch.

The body was found alongside Newberg Road east of Annabell Road in Ash Township, Monroe County.

Police tell us that they are investigating the death as a homicide.

The cause of death is still being investigated.

MSP says a man identified as Colton's boyfriend is also in custody on unrelated charges at this time.

Police tell us they have a person of interest in custody, but have not said if that is also the boyfriend.

Tanisha Colton was first reported missing by family members on March 17.

Police determined that Colton's vehicle had been seen in the Toledo, Ohio area on March 14.

Investigators went to the Toledo area, hoping to fine further information, getting help from the Toledo Police Department during the process.

On March 25 police were called when a passerby saw a body in a ditch.

Police were later able to determine that the body was that of Colton.

The Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office has an autopsy scheduled for today.
