Group collects cans to give others a warm Winter

It was all about staying warm and helping others ward off the cold this Winter at a fundraiser in Davison Saturday.

Members of emergency resource center, Outreach East, braved the weather to collect cans and bottles outside VG's grocery store.

It's all part of the group's "Cans for Coats" campaign.

The cans are then turned in for cash that will go to providing children with new coats, pants, boots and other Winter necessities.

Nearly all of the donations stay in the Davision area.

"With people not having jobs, we are finding more and more need. So we are so appreciative of how well the community has helped us out," said Brenda Hughes, Cans for Coats.

Last year, the event raised enough money to provide warm winter gear for 100 kids.
