Heading home from up north? Stay off I-75

If you're heading up north this memorial holiday weekend and plan on heading home on Sunday or Monday, you might want to avoid I-75 in Saginaw County.

According to the Michigan Department of Transportation, construction on I-75 is expected to cause long delays for southbound travelers over the Memorial Day weekend. Holiday travelers heading home from up north are encouraged to consider US-127 as an alternative. Southbound I-75 at the Zilwaukee Bridge remains closed from north of Saginaw to the south junction with I-675.

      TRAFFIC IMPACT:

Southbound I-75 remains closed between the north junction of I-675 and the south junction of I-675 with traffic shifted and a posted detour in effect. In addition:

      - Janes Road will remain closed and detoured via Outer Drive, Wadsworth Avenue and Tower Line Road.

      - The M-13 ramp to southbound I-75 is closed. Traffic is rerouted to I-675, where motorists can take southbound I-75.

      - The M-81 ramp to southbound I-75 is closed. Traffic is rerouted to M-13, then to southbound I-675, where motorists can take southbound I-75.

      - The Adams Street ramp to southbound I-75 is closed. Traffic is rerouted to Tittabawassee Road, then to I-675, where motorists can take southbound I-75.

      - The northbound I-675 ramp to southbound I-75 is closed. Motorists can take northbound I-75 to M-84 to access southbound I-75
