A court hearing is scheduled for Tuesday in the case of a northern Michigan woman charged with attempted murder in the carbon monoxide poisoning of her autistic 14-year-old daughter.
The Traverse City Record-Eagle reports that the status hearing follows completion of a criminal responsibility evaluation of 46-year-old Kelli Rai Stapleton that her attorneys requested.
Benzie County Prosecutor Sara Swanson says a report on the evaluation arrived last week but declined to discuss its contents.
A state psychologist in December found Stapleton mentally fit to stand trial. The criminal responsibility evaluation focuses on her state of mind during the alleged crime.
Stapleton is accused of trying to kill herself and daughter Isabelle on Sept. 3, 2013, by igniting charcoal in two grills inside an enclosed van.
