A Clio police officer and another man are hospitalized after the driver of a green Ford Escort collided with the police cruiser in downtown Clio.
Clio Police Chief Jim McLelland said the driver of the green Escort was traveling east on Vienna Road at about 60 miles per hour when he ran a red light at Mill Street and collided with the officer heading north on Mill Street.
??The officer is injured he is in good stable condition at Hurley Hospital and they are going to hold him overnight for observation and the driver of the other car has a broken leg,?? said McLelland.
State police accident reconstruction team members analyzed the scene littered with car parts and the damage done to both vehicles. Both vehicles have major front end damage. Little structural damage was done to the front of the PNC Bank Clio branch where the green Escort came to a halt.
McLelland says police investigators are trying to learn why the green Escort driver was driving so fast. He says when questioned the driver had no memory of the accident.
