The Flint School Board has approved a $1.2 million renovation of the former Holmes Middle School.
The district closed the school at the end of last school year.
The building will becomes part of the Brownell-Holmes campus serving Pre-K through Sixth Grade.
The curriculum will focus on science, technology, engineering and math.
Larry Watkins, Superintendent of Flint Schools, says this is "a real comprehensive program. Staff has been working really hard on making sure that we provide the best programming possible"
Watkins says the project will be complete by the beginning of next school year.
