House expolsion in Tuscola County injures homeowner

A house explosion in western Tuscola County has sent one man to the hospital.

According to police, the explosion happened around 1:30 p.m. on Owen Road, just north of M-25, in Wisner Township.

Neighbors tell NBC25, the homeowner tried to light the stove to make lunch and the house exploded, catching fire.

According to residents, a good samaritan went into the house to rescue the man from the fire.

The man described as an older gentleman, possibly in his 60's, was airlifted to Hurley Medical Center in Flint, where he is being treated for burns. His condition is unknown at this time.

The Akron Fire Department, Unionville Fire Department and Tuscola County Sheriff's Department all responded to the scene.
