Hundreds of friends and neighbors gathered tonight to remember a 23-year-old Saginaw mother who was murdered earlier this week.
Relatives read a poem and sang songs at a prayer vigil for Angelica Olivarez. Olivarez was found dead in her home on N. Bond St. after her three-year-old son alerted authorities Monday afternoon.
Saginaw police are still searching for the toddler's father, 24-year-old Michael Lawrence, for questioning in the case. Lawrence has been wanted by police since the August 2012 murder of six-year-old Layâ??la Jones.
Family members are asking the public to help solve the homicide.
"Somebody out there knows something,â?? Olivarezâ??s aunt Lupe Medel pleaded. â??Just please, you know, you don't even have to say who you are. Just call.â??
A funeral for Olivarez will take place at 11 a.m. Friday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Carrollton.
