      Jury convicts Eric Knysz of murdering Trooper Paul Butterfield

      Eric Knysz has been found guilty in the shooting death of Trooper Paul Butterfield

      A jury in Mason County has found Eric Knysz guilty in the shooting death of Michigan State Police Trooper Paul Butterfield.

      Butterfield is a graduate of Bridgeport High School in Saginaw County.

      Jurors deliberated for about two hours before reaching a guilty verdict.

      20-year-old Knysz was found guilty on all four charges he faced including- murder of a police officer, felony firearm, carrying a concealed weapon unlawful driving away and being a habitual offender.

      The defense did not call any witnesses in the case.

      The trial lasted just five days.

      Jurors heard testimony from investigators and Eric's wife, Sarah, who was with Kynsz when he shot Trooper Butterfield during a traffic stop last September.

      Kynsz is scheduled to be sentenced on April 8, 2014.
