Kildee tours Genesee County Head Start sites ahead of expansion
MUNDY TOWNSHIP, Mich. - A month after new federal money was approved for Head Start in the Flint area, Congressman Dan Kildee toured sites where that money will be used.
Kildee toured the Center for Countywide Programs in the Carman-Ainsworth School District.
It will help area children mitigate lead exposure due to the water crisis.
Congress approved more than $3.6 million to expand Head Start there.
It will also fund new classrooms and lengthen the school day.
“It's fun to see a child's face light up when they come in the door and they know they have an exciting day of learning ahead of them with their friends and the staff here that care about them," said Countywide Programs executive director Tricia Hill.
New federal funds are also being used to expand health services for Flint area kids.
