A stunning sight in Midland on Wednesday night as hundreds of lanterns were released into the sky to celebrate the life of Jayden Lamb.
Jayden lost his battle with cancer just two weeks ago.
Wednesday would have been his ninth birthday.
Family and friends gathered for a special lantern releasing ceremony at Midland's Messiah Lutheran Church.
The celebration was called "sending a birthday party to heaven."
Jayden's wish was to do good deeds for others which inspired someone to leave a diamond ring worth $2,000 in a Salvation Army Red Kettle last week.
"Well it's incredible, an outpouring and people are just so generous. Unfortunately because it was jayden's death, it just spurred a lot of people to say you know what, in honor of that little guy, i'm going to do something special," Pastor of Messiah Lutheran Ed Doerner said.
And also in honor of Jayden, Messiah Luthern Church in Midland will be giving away hundrens of toys to children in need this Saturday between 8:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
