The spotlight is on Lapeer County today as their number one employer expands in a big way.

Pinnacle Foods, known for that classic Vlasic pickle, is celebrating a multi-million dollar expansion and new jobs.

Governor Rick Snyder, as well as other local officials, will be visiting the newly expanded 5,000 square foot Vlasic pickle factory.

Several hundred additional seasonal positions will be created by the expansion.

The Imlay City plant already employs 260 people year round and 600 more seasonally.

In May we reported Pinnacle Foods announced the company would close its Delaware plant and move those operations to Imlay City.

In a release, the company said it planned to spend nearly $4 million on new equipment and $10 million on moving equipment from the plant in Delaware to the plant in Imlay City.
