Large plume of black smoke near Saginaw explained

The DNR is doing a controlled burn outside of Saginaw.

For those in Saginaw seeing a large plume of black smoke out their windows, there is an explanation.

According to the Saginaw Fire Marshal, Ralph Martin, this is a controlled burn being done by the Department of Natural Resources. The burn is being done just outside of the city on M-13 off of Interstate 75.

Martin also said that Saginaw City Hall had called him as well about the fire since they were also concerned about the smoke.

The Saginaw Fire Department has been fielding calls about the smoke from residents as well.
