Like Obama, Schauer sees minimum wage as big issue

President Barack Obama wasn't the only Democrat pushing for a minimum wage hike in Ann Arbor.
So was gubernatorial candidate Mark Schauer, who was recognized by Obama during the president's speech Wednesday at the University of Michigan.
Schauer says raising the minimum wage in Michigan is "a top priority" for him.
Should Schauer win his party's nomination, he'll most likely face Republican Governor Rick Snyder in the fall.
Snyder spokeswoman Sara Wurfel says the governor "hasn't taken a formal position yet, but has said that current proposals are a significant hike and could pose real challenges." She says Michigan's minimum wage of $7.40 is "already above the federal minimum" of $7.25
A coalition called Raise Michigan seeks to gradually hike the state's minimum wage to $10.10 by 2017.
