Local businesses see boost from Mother's Day

Local businesses like Royal Gardens Flowers say Mother's Day gives a big boost to sales.

More than 18 billion dollars is spent on Mother's Day across the nation and businesses in Mid-Michigan say it is a big boost to the local economy.

Whether you got mom a card, flowers, or took her to brunch, you probably spent some cash at a local business.

Royal Gardens Flowers in Mundy Township worked extra hours and brought in additional staff.

â??We always have extra people come in. Through the week we've had a couple former employees that have quote retired, come back in and help us out,â?? said Gail Polehna, manager and part owner.

The Bavarian Inn in Frankenmuth says it will serve more than 4,000 people on Motherâ??s Day.

Dorthy Zehnder at age 92 is still working in the kitchen. The restaurant says nearly the entire staff was working today.

The Bavarian Inn says it is all worth it to bring families together on Mother's Day.

â??The best gifts that we receive sometimes are just those homemade cards that we get,â?? said Amy Zehnder-Grossi.
