Local man dies of flu: fundraiser for widow

Right after Christmas, Amy Beauchamp's world stopped. Her 44 year old husband Kirk of Lake Fenton had contracted the flu. 2 days later he died. They have 5 young children.

The community provided Amy with sympathy and love. So did her friend, Betsy Kato, who quickly stepped in to help. Betsy is the principal of Myers Elementary in Grand Blanc. Betsy helped set up a special fundraiser for Amy and her kids. It's Saturday night at Legends Sports Cafe, on Thompson Road in Fenton Township. The event runs from 4 to 8. There is a spaghetti dinner and silent auction with all the proceeds for the Beauchamps.

Amy says Kirk was a wonderful husband, loving father and a good person. On NBC 25 Today, she said she was most thankful for all the love and support.
