An 80-year old driver from Holly was air-lifted to a hospital after hitting two horses in Saginaw County.
The accident happened around 6:30 p.m. Monday night at the intersection of Gera Road and Canada road just south of Frankenmuth.
Michigan State Trooper Randy Kahn said the horses had a escaped from a nearby residence.
The owner was trying to corral them back to the property when they took off again and were hit by an 80-year old driver.
"The crash is little more severe due to the size and the height of the animals and the fact that the car was going the speed limit of 55mph. It's quite a mass of an object to hit," said Trooper Kahn.
The Jaws of Life were used to get the driver out of the car and he was then air-lifted to a local hospital.
The condition of the driver is not known.
The horses died on impact.
