A man is in custody after allegedly shooting at salesmen that came to his door, according to the Isabella County Sheriff's Department.
Officials say that two people selling vacuum cleaners yesterday evening went to a residence on the 6000 block S. Vandecar Road in Fremont Township. After knocking on the door, a man approached from within the home and held up his index finger, indicating that the sales people should wait a moment. The man then went toward his garage.
The salesmen became suspicious and decided to leave. They got into their van and started to pull out of the driveway.
That was when the shooting began.
The 61-year-old man had returned, this time with a long gun, according to officials. The three men in the van heard two shots, with one of the men saying he heard the pellets "whiz" by his open window.
The suspected shooter was arrested on three counts of felonious assault with a firearm and one count of reckless discharge with a firearm.
A 20 gauge shotgun, believed to be used in the shooting, was recovered on the scene.
Alcohol is believed to be a factor. There were no injuries.
