Man charged in shooting of Highland Park mayor

A 25-year-old man has been charged in a shooting at a nightclub that wounded the mayor of the Detroit enclave of Highland Park.
The Wayne County prosecutor's office says that Jair A. Harris of Eastpointe faces is scheduled to be arraigned today in Detroit District Court on charges that include felonious assault, carrying a concealed weapon and careless discharge of a firearm causing injury.
The prosecutor's office says it doesn't know if he has a lawyer yet.
DeAndre Windom was shot in the leg at Key Club near downtown Detroit shortly before 2 a.m. on Nov. 17. He was treated at a hospital. Police have said a dispute unrelated to Windom escalated into the shooting.
No other injuries were reported.
