      Man, dog shot during home invasion in Fenton Township

      The Genesee Co. Sheriff's department is investigating a home invasion during which a young man and a dog were shot.

      Genesee County Sheriff's detectives are investigating the break-in and shooting in Fenton Township Saturday night. It happened around 10:30 p.m. at a home on Linden Road, near Lahring Road.

      Robert Johnson was shot inside the home, his father confirmed to NBC25. Johnson was shot in the leg and hip, but in good condition.

      Randy Johnson said the suspects demanded cash and took off with $5,000 and a cell phone. Police are investigating shell casings from inside and outside the house and a cough drop they retrieved as evidence.

      The family's dog was also shot several times. The family stayed at a neighbor's house Saturday night, before returning to their home around 4 a.m. Sunday.
