A young Republican activist from New York has been sentenced to 30 months in prison for stalking and extorting women after finding nude photos of them online.
Many were college students in Michigan and elsewhere who knew Adam Savader from various schools. Judge Marianne Battani sentenced the Great Neck, New York man Wednesday in Detroit federal court.
Battani says Savader put the women in great emotional distress because they didn't know his identity for months. The 22-year-old Savader apologized and says he's "horrified" by his crimes.
Savader used an alias while sending text messages over a Google phone service. He got access to nude photos through hacked accounts.
The judge agreed that working on the unsuccessful presidential campaign of Newt Gingrich seemed to be Savader's "breaking point."
