Man sought for passing counterfeit $100 bills in Oakland County

INDEPENDENCE TOWNSHIP, Mich. – The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information on a man suspected of distributing counterfeit $100 bills to Independence Township businesses.

According to the sheriff’s office, the man targets businesses typically in the early afternoon while posing as a customer.

The suspect makes small purchases of $10 or less, pays with a fake $100 bill and leaves with the change made.

All of the bills he has passed bear the same serial number: LB20968909Q.

Businesses targeted by the suspect include two Subway restaurants and a Fuzzy’s Pet Supply, all located on Sashabaw Road.

All three incidents have occurred within the last two weeks.

The suspect pictured above is described as an African-American male between 30 and 40 years of age, approximately 6 feet 5 inches tall with a thin build, short, dark hair and a mustache.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call the Oakland County Sheriff’s Operations Center at 248-858-4911 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.

A reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest and callers can remain anonymous.
