FRANKENMUTH, Mich. --A 22-year-old Saginaw man hit a tree to avoid hitting another motorist, according to a news release from the Frankenmuth Police Department.

It happened around 9:30 Wednesday morning in the area of Curtis and Beyer roads in Frankenmuth Township.

Police investigation shows that a 19-year-old woman from Essexville was traveling west on Curtis Road and was trying to make a left turn into a driveway.

The 22-year old Saginaw man was traveling eastbound on Curtis Road, and left the roadway to avoid the collision with the woman’s vehicle.

Three of four occupants of the man’s car had non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say the occupants of the man’s car ranged from 3 years old to 24 years old.

The investigation is ongoing, but police say the primary cause appears to be failing to yield to oncoming traffic.
