A man and a woman have been charged with the theft of 48 cans of baby formula from a Macomb County store.
Thirty-seven-year-old Jonathan Allen and Danielle Hannaford face a charge of retail fraud, a misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail. The 33-year-old Hannaford also is charged with fleeing and eluding police, a felony that carries a penalty of up to two years in prison.
Allen and Hannaford were arraigned this week in New Baltimore District Court. They're accused of leaving a Lenox Township Meijer store in a car with the formula, which authorities say has a value of about $800.
The Detroit News says both remain in custody. They're scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
