A local hospital is making some staffing changes that could result in layoffs and reduced hours for workers.
A spokesperson with McLaren Bay Region says the changes are based on decreased patient volume at the hospital. Magen Samyn, Vice President of Marketing at McLaren Bay Region, said 5 percent of the staff, or roughly 100 full-time employees, in both clinical and non-clinical areas could be affected either through layoffs or reduced hours.
The changes are slated for January 1, 2014.
Samyn said the changes do not affect other McLaren hospitals.
