Men rescue father, son after car goes off bridge in Flushing

Three bystanders helped rescue a man and his son after their car went off a bridge in Genesee County.

A father and son are in the hospital tonight after their car veered off a bridge in Flushing.

The accident happened just before 6 p.m. Wednesday on Main Street, near Maple Street, near the downtown business district.

According to witnesses on scene, the man was driving a red Chevy SUV when he apparently lost control, hit a truck and then careened off a bridge into a ravine near the Flint River.

Three men rushed to the car, flipped the vehicle over, and removed the driver and his son.

The rescuers tell NBC25, both the driver and passenger had cuts to their faces and were visibly shaken up by the accident.

Both victims were taken to local hospitals for treatment.

The Flushing Police and Fire Departments responded to the accident.
