The search is on for the next state Christmas tree to stand on the Capitol lawn in Lansing later this year.
State officials are looking for a spruce or fir tree that's at least 65 feet tall. Last year's tree came from Jackson.
The tree also should be available for free, be easily accessible from the road and have no interference from wires.
The state will partner with the timber industry and a crane company to cut the tree and set it in front of the Capitol. Nominations are due by July 31.
Those wishing to nominate a tree are asked to send their name, telephone number, a photograph of the tree and information about its size and location to ChristmasTree@michigan.gov.
