Midland dog suffers from rare "Wobblers Syndrome"

Meet Shakira, a dog who needs a good home.

Shakira is a 2 year old purebred Rottweiler with a rare disease. An official with the Humane Society of Midland County says she suffers from "wobblers syndrome", which causes a wobbly gait. Her head shakes, as well.

Neil Wackerle of the Humane Society says she's a stray who needs a good home. She's the kind of dog who's often "put down" by other shelters because of her special needs.

Wobblers Syndrome is a compression of the spinal column causing neurological issues. It can be genetic but can also occur due to poor diet and malnutrition while the dog is growing.

Shakira is spayed and up on all her vaccines. She's also been microchipped. You do not need to be from Midland County to adopt.
