Midland pet advocate says your pet can improve your health

Feeling depressed? Do you have allergies? How about high blood pressure? An official from the Humane Society of Midland County says get a pet.

Neal Wackerle of the H.S.O.M.C. says your dog or cat can lead you to better health. WEB MD agrees. It says owning a pet can ward off depression, lower blood pressure, and boost immunity. It says it can even improve your social life by helping you to get a mate!

Wackerle appeared on NBC 25Today with volunteer Justin Welch. Both agreed their involvement with animals has boosted their outlook on life. Now medical researchers are saving the pet health-link goes even deeper than that.
