      Mom's planning gun control rally

A group of moms plans to rally at the Michigan Capitol for gun-control measures.

The rally taking place Saturday features all five Michigan chapters of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America. Survivors of gun violence, Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero and Democratic state lawmakers are expected to speak late in the morning.

Other rally speakers include a gun-owning father, a teacher and a minister.

A handful of Lansing protests have been held in recent months by gun-rights advocates. The national gun-control organization for mothers was founded after the massacre of children at a Connecticut elementary school.

The group says it's not seeking to ban guns but wants "commonsense" solutions to reduce gun violence.

No gun-related bills have been passed in Michigan since the Connecticut shooting.
