More join in the fight against heart disease

A record-breaking number of people sporting colorful t-shirts invaded Flint Saturday.

They were walking to raise awareness for fitness and heart health.

It was all part of the American Heart Association's heart walk.

Joining the event was Biggest Loser contestant and Flint-native, Pete Thomas.

Many walkers participated for personal reasons.

"I'm actually walking for my dad who passed away from a heart condition and so i wanted to come down and support and give to a good charity," said Ronnie Pouncil.

"Here we are early in the morning saturday morning and people are out walking so i'm proud to be part of it and i'm glad to see that flint is on the cusp of that wave of healthy communities," said Biggest Loser contestant, Pete Thomas.

Around 500 people took part in this year's walk.
