A woman who works as an advocate for Genesee County crime victims has been charged with covering up a fatal hit-and-run involving her son.
The Michigan attorney general's office has filed charges against a mother, father and their son in the case.A pickup truck struck and killed Jeff Lee in Flint last year. Authorities say the Silverado was registered to the mother, but driven by the son.
The mother is charged with tampering with evidence, conspiracy and interfering with police. Her son faces three charges, including failing to stop at a fatal accident.
Police say the truck was secretly repaired and that the mother attempted to influence witnesses.
Messages seeking comment were left for the family.The mother is suspended from her county job.
