Corrine Baker walks slowly in visible physical pain.
She coughs as she tries to breathe. The bruises on her neck from when she says he tried to strangle her make it difficult just to inhale and exhale.
Her ribs are broken. Her eyes are blackened.
Her hair is matted she says because her boyfriend dragged her around the home by her hair. She has cigarette burns on her face and both of her feet from when she says he tortured her.
The physical injuries are the least of her suffering.
My baby is gone and I wish it was me, she says through tears.
Police say her son, 4-year-old Dominick Calhoun died at 11:02 a.m. Monday.
Her nightmare started after she says she realized her boyfriend had burned him. She wanted to take him to the hospital for treatment. She says her boyfriend feared getting in trouble and attacked her to stop her.
When she resisted she says he beat her little boy.
Every time I'd go to Dominick he TMd rip me off him, and I'd go back and try to protect him as best I could, says Baker.
Baker TMs boyfriend is in the Genesee County Jail, but has not yet been charged. Police say they are still investigating the tragic crime, interviewing witnesses, and waiting for the medical examiner TMs report.
