Mott Community College trustees approve tuition hike

Mott Community College students will pay more in tuition beginning next winter.

MCC spokesperson Michael Kelly told NBC25 the Board of Trustees unanimously approved a 4.5 percent tuition hike Monday night.

In-district students will pay just over $5 more per contact hour.

The yearly cost for the average student will go up to $2,729.36 starting January 2014, from the current average of $2,465.56.

Board members attribute the tuition hike to a decline in property taxes as well as cuts in state aid.
