FLINT, Mich. -- Michigan State Police trooper was treated for non-life threatening injuries after getting hit by a vehicle assisting the Drug Enforcement Agency.

MSP Spokesman Lt. David Kaiser said shortly after 9 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13 troopers stopped a vehicle in the 4100 block of Marvin Street.

A DEA agent recognized the driver and asked MSP to pull the car over.

Lt. Kaiser says the driver of the vehicle pulled in to a private driveway, as troopers approached, the suspect intentionally put the car in reverse as troopers went to advance on the car.

One of the troopers slipped as they were approaching the vehicle and was backed over, according to Lt. Kaiser. The trooper was taken to an area hospital where they were treated and released. The second trooper wasn’t hurt.

The driver was taken into custody by MSP without incident and is also a person of interest of a homicide investigation in Flint, according to Lt. Kaiser.
