Mt. Holly opens earlier than ever before thanks to frigid temperatures

"I was not expecting such an amazing turnout" says General Manager Mark Tibbits.

Frigid arctic air is bringing skiers to the slopes of Mt. Holly.

"That allowed us to optimize our snow making equipment and we just absolutely poured snow out".

Mt. Holly Ski Resort is breaking its own record, opening 4 days ahead of schedule, earlier than ever before.

A welcome surprise to anyone waiting since last winter to hit the slopes.

"I love this place, its great" says Linden skier Jared Brost.

"I've been coming here since I was a little guy and my family comes here, and my friends, so I do what I can to get out here as much as possible whenever possible".

But eager skiers will have to hurry to catch a chair lift the next couple of days.

With warmer temperatures expected this weekend, the resort plans to close to save the frozen snow and will re-open once it re-freezes.

Until then, skiers are just happy to be back on the mountain.

"When you throw something like this together, it makes a first day pretty enjoyable" says Jared.

"If its go time, its go time" according to Mark.
